 Gomukh, the terminus or snout of the Gangotri Glacier, from where Bhagirathi River ( Local for Ganges) originates. It is one of the primary sources of the Ganges River. The place is in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the largest in the Himalayas with an estimated volume of over 27 cubic kilometers. The most well-known Tapovan in India is the area above the Gangotri Glacier. Tapovan area is base camp for several mountaineering expeditions. Huddled 13,700 ft. above sea level in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, sits a snowy dream world that beckons herds of adventurers into its folds every year. Sar Pass is one of the most beautiful treks in India, and promises a medley of thick forests, sylvan meadows and roaring streams. The initial part of the Sar Pass trek is housed within stunning woods that seem like something right out of a fantasy movie. The scenery shifts from grassy meadows to the Winterland of Narnia midway through the trek! Patches of green and brown are veiled under a layer of powdery snow. The last hour or two of the trek to the main Sar Pass is the most thrilling part, as the incline of the slope is nearly 90 degrees! As daunting as it sounds, the surrounding Himalayan beauty overpowers your fear and fatigue. The highlight of the Sar Pass trek is the descent from Sar Pass, which can't be traversed by trekking, give the steep incline. You have to slide down the slope! Day 3: After breakfast ,Trek from Grahan Village to Min Thach (9 kms, 7 hrs). Moderate day of trekking through jungles of Kanwar wildlife sanctuary. Overnight in Min thatch at 9500 feet. Day 4: Trek from Min Thach to Nagaru (6 kms, 7 hrs ). Moderate day of trekking as we climb very high to Nagaru , tree line ends, meadows only. Overnight in Nagaru at 11000 feet.
