Well , the most of Spiti can keep you breathless always ( and I am not just talking about because of it's super altitude ), so choosing this 7 times was really tough! But here are my favourite moments from Spiti that will surely live on , in an otherwise forgetful mind.
Staying in Kee was awesome and rising to the beautiful view from the monastery was better. Such a fresh start to another amazing day in Spiti. At just 200 Inr a night , you can sleep in one of the coolest monastery in world and wake up to this view ! Look at my widening smile!
The roads are the worst if you think from a civilised perspective of mind, but if you think it through, you will see, that the bad roads are the guardians of the Galaxy of Spiti! If the roads were super good like anywhere else , too much people and too little of an adventure. So keep it in mind , next time you are complaining on a bumpy ride !
It's one thing to fall in love with the land , another to fall in love with the people. Amazing times to be invited in their kitchen and sharing butter milk and bread, laughing , giggling and making the natives your friend!
The view from Dhankar Gompa is something magical. The confluence of pin and Spiti river with the backdrop of strecthed valley makes up for a one whole experience to meditate keeping your eyes open !
Hitchhiking always is exciting , but doing it in Spiti added extra cream on the topping! The grand views from car windows changes into panaroma, grander huge screen movie experience, and all I could do is keep craving for more !
A walk in the local farms is most probably the most thought provoking thing you can do. And any day , this will win my recommendation of not to give a miss while in Spiti. You can never stop thinking , how on such barren land , they have such beautiful vegetations!
Imagine this , in middle of nowhere , just after a crazy rainy storm , with no one around , not even a bird , you find a rainbow just to yourself! What could have been a better gift from the middle lands which kept me comming every year since last three years. A perfect thing to get me back again next year surely!
Beautiful places always have beautiful people. That has always been my principle in perpetual wandering. When the nature outside is so beautiful, things inside usually are amazing too. So in my journey to Spiti , I collected some amazing pictures of the locals during their day to day activities, which surely will reflect how beautiful they are and also a little part of their daily life.
The women are beautiful in their features and mostly you find them tending to all domestic chores like shopping or daily activities, having their babies in back. Call them super moms.
The people are hospitable mostly like this lady from Tabo Monastery. They can tell you stories about their history and treat with tibetan butter milk. All you need to do it just open up.
Try to stay in the homestay in Spiti, you will find hospitable family as hosts and their young ones tending to your service. This brother and sister were amazing hosts for me.
The farm lands are green and the people working there are beautiful too. This man kept on providing me sweet peas to eat as I was clicking his pictures.
In general, if you have a Keen eye, everywhere in Spiti you can keep clicking beautiful pictures of the natives here. There gracious smiles adds up to the warmth and composition. This by far is my favourite picture of the lot!
Be it the young or the old, they always welcome you with a smile and greet you. Simple things , yet making a huge difference. Hence , Spiti apart from it's mind blowing landscape will always be one of the destination for me to go back to due to this beautiful smiling faces.

What doesn't kill you , makes you only stronger. And hand poked tattoo is the best example of that. In my recent fetish for hand poked tattoos, I learnt about the ancient and original traditions of tattooing and it's belief. I also realized the effects of a tattoo in the modern day.
For me tattoos reflect a big part of who you are or what you have survived through. Hence , it's a sign of inspiration. Back in old days , it also showed a identity of the person in a tribe , and they were mainly made by hand. Hence , to really have a essence of a tattoo I had to do it Handpoked.
I believe, Tattoos are the best gift , one can give to themselves. It's a thing that will prevail on your body untill the nature turns you into dust. It's a sign of commitment , you make to yourself. When I make a tattoo , it generally holds for me the story and memories, of the time it's etched.
Tattoos are memoirs that reminds how strong you have been , and pains you have gone through while making it. It gives a confidence that if you could have prevailed through those stormy times and those sufferings, you can even make it through now. I guess this is my best realization about a tattoo.
The hand poked form is more organic and traditional compared with the mechanical one. The pain of course depends on where you are inking it on. The traditional way of tribes to make this art form were Handpoked, and even in prisons , they used to make like that. In recent times, there has been a resurgent of hand poked tattoos. In India as there are very few places where you can find to do it in , traditional way. And hence , I didn't think even twice before going for it. The neck is a sensitive place , no doubt and you need a expert hand to ink it on you. It is painful, but as they say , in the end , it will only make you stronger , and Everytime you hit a hard wall , just look at your tattoo and remember How powerful you are !
