An under-rated and little-known trek in Himachal Pradesh, the Buran Ghati pass trek offers the stark contrast of green meadows and white snowfields. You'll approach this mountain pass on a steeply inclined trail of moderately intense difficulty with one particular stretch requiring you to climb down an ice wall using a rope. But the constant company of snow-clad mountain peaks rising above you more than compensate for the effort. Another feature of the trek is the visit to Chandranahan Lake, a sacred body of water at 13,800 feet with water from the melting glaciers. The trail to Buran Ghati pass offers views of unparalleled beauty with carefully crafted scenery of thick forests, grazing fields, snow-capped peaks and small river brooks scattered all around you. Apart from being physically fit and healthy, the trail leads you up to an altitude of over 15,000 feet, without requiring any technical or mountaineering skills. The mountain pass is located alongside the Rupin pass and offers spectacular views of the Dhauladhar and Kinner Kailash ranges. If this interests you, check below for the plan.
