Well , if you are crazy about beach parties and want to know how days are spent in Goan northern party hot spots , this is my experience there. It took me 25 years in life to finally reach Goa, I mean I have been there as a kid with my parents , but obviously that does not count , at least to me. So hearing about all the awesome parties and comming in contacts with them from my times in Kasol , I finally decided to pay heed to my youth which wanted a feel of such exuberance and commotions. I arrived in Anjuna , got a place in a cool hippy community hostel called Goamazing and met so many nomads and travellers like me. I avoided Baga and Calangute , already knowing the hype and chaos that it has. My co-hostellers living for long , had information about the parties going on in the area, and on the first night only, I tagged along with them. After dinner we started off. We took a ride for about 10-15 mins in bike to arrive on a top of a cliff, I had no idea , where we were heading since , it was my first night. As we stopped , it was dark but one could heard the beats of techno music flowing from somewhere. We followed it , descending down the stairs. I could hear the sound of the waves as we descended down, and the techno music made a rhythm with it. The full moon was near and the white sand on the beach reflected and I could finally see the stretch. They call it the Vagator Beach. It was Tuesday , and a party took place in the open space of the beach. The techno music was nice and one did not need any kind of drugs to go into the groove on the floor. Nobody bothers one another and everybody was dancing on their own, not such scene like in the big cities, where people are pushing each other, and exactly why I don't go partying in cities! I am a music illiterate and cannot tell when the music was swinging from techno to other genres, but I was dancing too vigour sly only having beer , the most cheap addiction Goa has to offer. Everybody was in a frenzy , dancing till they drop or took rest for sometime to hit the floor again. It takes more energy to dance on the sand , kind of a good exercise surely. Slowly, nobody knew when the night slept away and it was time for sunrise. The music was on , but most people were out on the beach to witness the slow turning of the moon kissed whitish sands change into the golden hues swayed by the sun. Be it people tripping or normal people just high by beers like us , all sat down on the beach with the slow techno music on the background to welcome the new day. It was my first morning in Goa and undoubtedly , it was an amazing experience, to have partied all night and then experience such a sunrise with all my fellow party amigos. Days are generally hot , with scorching sun above your head, so people like us sleep till its late afternoon or just chill in the hostel porches listening to music or sipping cold beer in the shade and avoiding the heat. Sharing about the amazing dance moves one got to see on the floor, or the beautiful girl we exchanged eyes with, everything about small laughs and teasing. Once its close to evening , we are out in the sea , to take a bath and also witness a epic sunset. Anjuna's sunset is no doubt famous , but Vagator is where I found my best sunset. Crowd is very less , the tides are huge , clean beaches makes it perfect to take great wash and enjoy the sea. To add all of it, the sun eventually dips into the sea, like a golden orb eaten by the ocean, taking leave from the duty for that day. And trust me that is one of the most amazing thing to see while being in the water.
I belong to the mountains but I never knew that even oceans could be such great or would love me as did the mountains. More days passed and I felt at ease and at home just like the mountains, so finally , now when I go back , every time , I know where in Goa I belong. |
