To the Girl I want to travel the world with,
Sitting on a cliff , overlooking the heritage fort of Sigriya , I got lost in our thoughts. Imagining of what we could have done if we were ever here in this beautiful island nation together. A kind of romance vibrates here with the old world charm, that is being lost, in otherwise fast " moving to Mars " society. This left behind , " by gone" era and it's presence makes Srilanka a destination where you would have fallen in love with it surely. For a start, the sunsets and sunrises here are terrific. Climbing the hills to witness a sunrise in the darkest hours before dawn is something we would have cherished holding each other's hand. Or just sitting by the sea face watching a sunset , as sky turned from blue to red to orange to gold. I still have no idea how nature does it, to so vividly paint the sky over the Indian ocean. Taking the tuk tuk here was fun , with colours like Red , Blue , Green and more. It's as if you need to choose your own favorite colour and then ascertain it with the duty to reach you to your beloved destination. How thrilling it would be to kiss you standing at the doors of the train here as The old colonial Srilankan railways takes us through lush green plantations of tea and coconut, through hills and plains alike. It is as if we are on a movie set, and the whole country is the cinema. The smiling people here with their kindness and culture are as diverse and rich, as their fruit shops found in abundance in every corner. With such beautiful fruit shops , healthy and fit humans walk around, and the predominantly Buddhist belief also makes it a calm and tolerant society. Surely you would have told me , how happy thing it is to be in Srilanka. Lastly how I wish you were here today as I climbed the cliff to see the ancient heritage fortress of Sigriya. Built on a single massive Boulder that stands tall , out of the dense vegetation on Srilankan plains. Legend says this could have been the royal palace of King Ravana , while the local history implores an ancient fortress built under a king , left abondoned after his death. Buddhist used this as their monastery later, and all now that stands is history with fabled assumptions and a great view. I would have loved to share this feeling of standing on this cliff , as their is a feeling of simply being free. To be alive without living and learning to be okay with just being. Okay to not be extraordinary or do anything worthy to be praised. Here to just breathe , to wander , to live an average life and accepting it. For may be if we could have learnt that , to live for the sake of only living and not achieving anything , may be you and I would have been here , together. With Love and Hugs and Waiting Deep. |
Note from the Author," Travel made me rich and free. Magic and miracles are true , once you wander on the roads to places different and divine. I have collected so many thoughts and stories while being a Tour & Trek guide for last seven years. Sharing with you all, those memories and stories , and wishing you all , that someday you guys travel far and wide too. I am not a great writer , so ignore my grammar and spellings, read it with feelings, and you might just be affected with the wanderlust to hit the road" Categories
